Q1

Who is eligible to apply for PG admission?

 

Ans

Candidates must have completed MBBS from an NMC-recognized medical college, finished compulsory rotatory internship, and hold a valid permanent/provisional registration with NMC/State Medical Council. They must also have a qualifying NEET-PG score for the current academic year.

What documents are required during the admission process?

 

Ans

3. Provisional allotment letter
4. SSC (10th) / School Leaving Certificate

7. Affidavit (Notarized) by NRI relative agreeing to sponsor the entire course fee & living expenses + supported by NRE Bank Account Passbook

How is the seat allotment done?

 

Ans

The admissions are done according to the centralized counseling process conducted by MCC of NMC/DGHS.

 

Q4

Can I change my specialty after seat allotment?

 

Ans

Once you accept the allotted seat and complete the admission process, specialty change is generally not allowed. Changes are possible only during counseling rounds before final admission.

What is the duration of the PG program?

 

Ans

The PG program duration is three years from the date of admission/joining as per NMC guidelines.

What is the monthly stipend paid to PG students?

JR–1: ₹60,000 per month
JR–2: ₹65,000 per month
JR–3: ₹70,000 per month

 

Q10

Is there any service bond?

 

Ans

All PG graduates must serve 1 year as Senior Resident. Bond penalty for not completing service: ₹10,00,000.

For scholarship students:
Mandatory SR period: 3 years.
Penalty for not completing: ₹10 lakhs + ₹3 lakhs scholarship.

 

Q11

Can I take a break during the PG course?

 

Ans

Breaks are allowed only for valid medical/emergency reasons with approval. Extended breaks may extend training duration.

 

Q12

What is the attendance requirement during PG training?

 

Ans

Minimum 80% attendance as per NMC rules. Non-compliance can lead to extension of training.

 

Q13

Is research or thesis mandatory?

 

Ans

Yes. A dissertation must be completed and submitted at least 6 months before final exams as per NMC norms.

 

Q14

What happens if I fail in the final PG exam?

 

Ans

You can reappear during the next scheduled exam. Training extension may apply based on rules.

 

Q15

Can foreign medical graduates apply for PG seats?

 

Ans

Yes, if they have:
FMGE/NEXT clearance
Completed internship
Valid NMC registration
Qualifying NEET-PG score

 

Q16

How do I know if my allotted seat is confirmed?

 

Ans

Seat is confirmed only after document verification, fee payment, and receiving the admission order/joining letter.

 

Q17

What if I do not join after seat allotment?

 

Ans

You will lose the security deposit. Participation in further rounds depends on MCC rules.

 

Q18

Are transfers/migrations allowed during PG?

 

Ans

No. Migration during PG is NOT allowed.

 

Q19

Can I pursue another job while doing PG?

 

Ans

No. PG residency is a full-time program; external employment is not permitted.

 

Q20

What is the leave entitlement during PG training?

 

Ans

Leave entitlement is as per NMC Postgraduate MER 2023 guidelines.
