Dr. Meenal Patvekar

Experience
Dr. Meenal Patvekar is a proactive and highly experienced academic and clinician with over 25 years of expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, encompassing both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Currently serving as Professor and Head of Department and Deputy Dean at Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Pune, she is recognized for her leadership in minimally invasive gynaecology and her commitment to academic excellence.

- M.D. (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) – Karnataka University, Diploma in Gynaecological Endoscopy – Kiel University, Germany, Fellowship in Office Hysteroscopy – University of Bari, Italy, Advanced Operative Hysteroscopy – University of Naples, Italy, Certified Robotic Surgeon – AIIMS, Kochi, Ph.D. in Hysteroscopy (ongoing).
Paper Presentations:
Karnataka Society Obstetric State Conference Award – First prize for paper on use of RU486 and Gemprost gel in termination of pregnancy up to 56 days of amenorrhea, Belgaum, 1994.
Dr. Sankholkar Award – Second prize for paper on teenage pregnancy and health consequences at Yuva FOGSI, National Conference, Pune, 2006.
Awarded Special Recognition Award by PCMC Police Commissioner for distinguishing work in the medical field in 2016.
Awarded Lokmat Dhanwantari Puraskar for distinguishing work in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pune, February 2023.

- School of Hysteroscopy – a centre of excellence for training in diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, providing skill-based learning through simulation-based and live modules.
- The School conducts a Comprehensive 4-Day Hysteroscopy Training Course for postgraduate students and practicing gynaecologists.
- The program includes didactic sessions, live surgical demonstrations, simulation-based hands-on training, and case discussions.
- It aims to enhance surgical confidence, precision, and adherence to international standards of minimally invasive gynaecologic care.

The department implements the competency-based medical education (CBME) curriculum prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC), emphasizing:

Conferences & Workshops
“SymbiScope” is a four-day comprehensive workshop in hysteroscopy designed for postgraduate students and practicing gynaecologists. Since 2024, it has been conducted successfully on four occasions, training more than 50 participants.

A symposium on hysteroscopy was organized featuring Prof. Dr. Mark Hans Emanuel from the Netherlands.
