  • To promote excellence in faculty development, quality medical education, professionalism, and the implementation of Competency-Based Medical Education.
  • To conduct 'train the trainer' programs and workshops for capacity building among health professional educators.

Objectives

  • To develop leadership in Medical Education.
  • To actively contribute to effective curricular development, implementation, and monitoring, including faculty capacity-building activities in accordance with the National Medical Commission to effectively implement Competency-Based Medical Education.
  • To oversee and coordinate educational activities conducted at SMCW.
  • To conduct training activities for the capacity building of faculty members in educational science and technology.
  • To introduce advanced research programs in medical and health professional education.
  • To develop a robust e-learning system for teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • To provide mentoring and support in developing the simulation centre and skills lab.
  • To stay updated with current trends in medical education by conducting faculty development programs such as CMEs, conferences, workshops, and NCHPE.
  • To provide a platform for inter-institutional and international collaboration in developing new educational techniques and models.
  • To offer courses in medical education to support faculty in pursuing advanced training within the Medical Education Unit (MEU).

      2. Workshop on Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) 2024 for 2 days (subject to approval from Nodal Centre and NMC) (30 participants from SMCW).

      • Coordinating all activities of MEU & Curriculum committee.
      • Faculty development through seminars, workshops, conferences, and CME programs.
      • Curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in alignment with the latest NMC guidelines.
      • Updating and implementing the latest NMC guidelines for UG/PG examinations.
      • Coordinating and facilitating all NMC activities.
      • Supervising and coordinating overall educational and research development at the Institute.
      • Actively contributing to effective curricular development, implementation, and monitoring, including faculty capacity-building activities, in accordance with the National Medical Commission to effectively implement Competency-Based Medical Education.
      • Introducing advanced research programs in medical and health professional education.
      • Updating current trends in medical education by conducting faculty development programs in the form of CMEs, conferences, workshops, and NCHPE.

      Activities planned in future:

      • To be able to conduct NCHPE in the next 2 years.
      • To be able to start some publishing activity journal in a year or newsletter every month of SMCW/SUHRC and/or FOMHS.
      • To develop SMCW as a centre of excellence in medical education.
      • Training of the MEU faculty for advance faculty development courses.
      • To coordinate in conducting the Foundation Course for first-year MBBS.
      • To conduct Faculty development workshops/program (1 per month).
      • To conduct Faculty Basic Course in Medical Education Workshop in Medical Education Technologies (at least 1 per year).
      • To conduct Sensitization Programme on AETCOM Module (Attitude, Ethics, and Communication Module) (at least 1 per year).
      • To conduct Curriculum Implementation Support Programme-III (CISP-III) (1 every year).
