Department Overview
The Tuberculosis & Respiratory Medicine department is situated on the 5th floor of building no 3 in Symbiosis Medical College for Women on the picturesque Lavale Hill-base Campus.
The department contributes actively in the fields of education, research and clinical service. The department is equipped to educate the National and International Medical students, to provide quality healthcare for respiratory illness patients and to conduct various National & International Research Project.

The Department of Respiratory Medicine will be preeminent in clinical care, academic teaching & research activities.
Mission
- To provide good diagnostic & treatment facilities for all common respiratory diseases.
- To provide services through specialty clinics like Asthma clinic, COPD clinic etc. and pulmonary rehabilitation services.
- To train students with aligned and integrated teaching in order to diagnose and manage common respiratory diseases & involve them in National Program for Tuberculosis (NTEP).

Experience
Dr Meenakshi has over 6 years of experience after post-graduation in academics, teaching, research, administration including work experience in B.J. Govt. Medical College & Sassoon General Hospital. Presently she is serving as Assistant Professor and the in charge Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, at Symbiosis Medical College for Women Pune.

Infrastructure Facilities
Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases
Department of Tuberculosis & Respiratory Medicine is situated at 5th floor building no 3. It provides separate cabins for all faculties like Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor & Residents.
It has department office with area for non-teaching staff. Department library cum seminar room are among other infrastructure facilities available in the Department.
Outpatient department is situated in building no 3 ground floor. It has 4 examination room, patient waiting area, demonstration room. OPD also includes facilities like sputum collection room & PFT room.
Department provides speciality clinics for Asthma, COPD, ILD. We established DOTS centre under National Tuberculosis Elimination Program.
In Covid 19 pandemic department established Fever OPD since March 2020.
In Patient Department
Department provides state of art in patient services including facilities of separate Male & Female wards, procedure room, treatment room, duty doctors room, pantry, nursing station etc.
In wards central oxygen facility & central suction system are provides.
