The Department of Anesthesiology is situated on the 3rd floor of the Symbiosis Medical College Hospital building at the Lavale Hill-base Campus. The department contributes actively in the fields of patient care, education, and research. The department is well-equipped to train undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of anaesthesia, critical care, and pain services.

Description

Dr. Indrani Hemantkumar Chincholi has obtained her MBBS degree from Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She got the 1st Rank in MD and DNB (Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai University) as well as DA (LTMMC & Sion Hospital, Mumbai). She has been awarded Honorary fellowships from Indian College Of Anaesthesiologists and Society of Oncoanaesthesia and Critical Care. She is Member, Specialists Board of National Board of Examination in Anaesthesiology. She is the current founder Dean of College of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists and presently a National Governing Council member of Indian Society of Anaesthesiology and President of Indian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesia, Maharashtra State. She was the Past president of Research Society of Anesthesiology. She received the Hargobind Fellowship to train in Cardiac Anesthesiology at Leheigh Valley Hospital, Pennsylvania. She is the recipient of President Appreciation Award from ISA National, Natya Kalaimani Award from Government of Tamil Nadu, and Bharat Jyothi Award. She was the past Head of department of Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Presently she is serving as the Professor and Head of the Department of Anaesthesia at Symbiosis Medical College for Women at Pune.

She has over 15 years of experience in academics, teaching, research activities, healthcare services.

She has various scientific papers, chapters in Book and case reports publications in national and international journals.

Outreach Activities:

  • She has been a part of various community outreach programs for educating basic life support and Chronic Pain treatment awareness. She has actively been part of many Closed Heart Surgery camps in rural Maharashtra.

  • She regularly presents and conducts workshops in the field of Airway, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Simulation training etc. She is an invited speaker in almost all National Anaesthesia conferences and has delivered many Orations.

Infrastructure Facilities

The infrastructure includes Anaesthesia Department along with the Operation Theatre complex.

The department has a library with books on Anesthesiology, Pain and Critical Care and journals to stay aligned with the most up-to-date practice in Anaesthesiology. There is a classroom with Laptop and LCD projector for lectures, seminars, journal review, case discussions etc. A skill lab is available for training in Airway Management, Regional Techniques, Vascular Access and Crisis Resource Management

A state-of-the-art Operation Theatre Complex includes a Preanaesthetic Assessment room, Preoperative Room, Operation Theatres, and Postoperative Care Unit. The department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art anesthesia workstations, advanced airway management tools including Videolaryngoscope, Video Endoscope, Fiber Optic Bronchoscope etc, Regional anesthesia aids such as USG and Nerve Stimulators, and comprehensive resuscitation equipment, including a defibrillator and fully stocked crash cart. Precision Anaesthesia is being provided with use of Target Controlled Infusion pumps and use of Depth of Anaesthesia Monitors. The department has a dedicated pain management consultant with infrastructure support, including outpatient evaluation and procedural suites, and perioperative chronic pain care. The department supports multiple modular operating theatres equipped with laminar airflow systems and centralized monitoring.
