Refresher Faculty Development Workshop on LMS

Date: 8th – 9th April 2021

Time: 2:15 to 4:15 pm.

Venue: Anatomy Demonstration room no. II  1 (Building No. 04 First Floor)

Medical Education Unit (MEU) of Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW) and Symbiosis University Hospital and Regional Centre (SUHRC) had organized a 2-days hands-on training workshop on Use of Learning Management System from 8-11 December 2020.

  1. Target Audience: The workshop was arranged for all coordinators for LMS and for the faculty of pre-clinical departments including community medicine.
  2. The workshop was attended by 45 participants
  3. Taking in account the current pandemic scenario; the workshop was organized considering the social distancing norms, and provision of preventive measures. All participants and resource faculties were wearing mask during the entire workshop. 
  4. Workshop was conducted in two batches,

    5. Batch A (8th and 9th December 2020)

    Participants: All LMS coordinators and HODs (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine)

    Batch B (10th and 11th December 2020)

    Participants: Remaining faculty from the pre-clinical departments including Community Medicine.

  5. Participants were provided with the required learning resources in hand before the workshop and pretest was conducted before workshop.
  6.  Appropriate learning facilities with AV aids were arranged at the venue.
  7. The resource persons for the session were,
    • Lt. Col Dr. T Vijaya Sagar (Dean, SMCW)
    • Dr. Suchitra Palve, (Professor, Department of Physiology, MEU coordinator)
    • Dr. Sunit Jadhav, (Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy, LMS coordinator)
  8. Following sessions were conducted during the workshop.
    1. Introduction to LMS
    2. Recording a PPT presentation using screen recorder
    3. Creating a lesson using LMS
    4. Creating assignments and quizzes using LMS
  9. The entire workshop was meticulously planned by MEU coordinator under the able guidance of Dean, SMCW.
  10. The sessions were made more interesting by providing the hands on training and planned activities, which ensured active learner participation.
