Experience:

An accomplished professional with 36 years of combined academic and administrative experience in the Armed Forces medical services and AFMC, Pune, holds an MBBS degree from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, Rajasthan, and an MD in Biochemistry from Government Medical College, Aurangabad, Maharashtra. He is a recognized undergraduate and post-graduate teacher and examiner in various universities like MUHS, RGUHS, and IP University Delhi, and have guided many MD and MSc students.

His research contributions include 24 published papers in national and international journals, along with the successful completion of four research projects funded by AFMRC. Two of my projects have been selected for presentation at AFMRC, Pune. He also authored a chapter in the renowned Textbook of Medical Biochemistry by MN Chatterjee & Rana Shinde.

Since 2004, He has served as a Professor and Head of Department of Biochemistry at AFMC, Pune. At Zonal Hospital and Specialty Orthopedics Hospital in Kirkee, Pune, he headed the Laboratory Medicine Department and Blood Bank. He has organized and conducted many national workshops on Advanced Techniques in Clinical Chemistry at the Department of Biochemistry, AFMC, Pune, and served as the Joint Secretary of the National Conference of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India in 2006.

He has keen interest in quality management of laboratory facilities, accreditation processes, teaching, research, and various specialty teaching endeavors.

Infrastructure Facilities

1. UG practical Laboratory

In biochemistry practical laboratory, various biochemical tests are performed on different body fluids using simple as well as advance instruments.

It enables students to understand the importance of biochemical tests in diagnosis, patient care and treatment.

2. Research Laboratory

Research laboratory of biochemistry is well equipped. Faculty and students are encouraged to do research, present and publish their scientific paper. It also extends hands towards interdisciplinary research.

3. Demonstration Room

It is furnished with adequate audio-visual aids. It is a place for practical instructions, demonstrations, small group discussion etc.

4. Departmental Library

Departmental library is open for faculty as well as for students. It provides an opportunity to use it on regular basis. It has a total number of 92 books.

5. Seminar Room

It is a multipurpose room used for different educational activities such as journal club, microteaching, recent updates in biochemistry field.

Clinical biochemical tests are used to confirm the diagnosis, to start rational treatment, to screen the people at risk, to monitor the disease progress, to monitor response to therapy, to explore the cause and the mechanism of the disease.
