Obstetrics and Gynecology is the multispecialty that encompasses two subspecialties of Obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period) and Gynecology (covering the health of female reproductive system- vagina, uterus, ovaries and breasts).

Name:- Dr. Jyotsna Potdar, MBBS MD (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)

It gives us immense pleasure to introduce our head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGY).

She completed her graduation and post-graduation from MGIMS, Nagpur and have in her record 13 years of teaching experience in this field. She is actively involved in teaching to various courses like MBBS, Diploma in OBGY, MS in Obstetrics Gynecology, BSC & MSC Nursing. She is also actively involved in clinical OPD work, involving Antenatal, postnatal care, vaginal birth and caesarean. Family planning services. Contraceptive advice. Cancer screening, colposcopy, Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy and major and minor Gynecological surgeries.

She believes that Symbiosis provides us with immense opportunity to operate in the state of art operation theatres. It gives us cosy environment to work, study and research. We make teams for best output with optimal utilization of time and energy. This is a great opportunity for the students where they receive not only best of knowledge and skills but also learn compassion and skills to serve the society with smile. SMCW will be the place where students will learn to use their knowledge, skill and research output to serve humanity at their best.

Services provided:

  • Experienced faculty to handle clinical work and teaching assignments.
  • Corporate style labour rooms which also fulfills the MCI requirement. 
  • Obstetric OT is just next to Neonatal ICU; this neonatal backup is excellent. 
  • Septic OT and Eclampsia room which again is next to ICU.
  • Excellent set up for advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopic surgeries.   Large ovarian tumors, and other Gynaecological malignancies are tackled with our surgical colleagues.
  • Advanced anaesthesia machines to deal with anaesthesia in complicated cases.
  • Along with routine Obstetric work, we cater to high risk cases referred from surrounding villages.
