Vision & Mission


The department of Ophthalmology is a well-equipped department situated on the 5th floor of building no. 3 of Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Lavale. Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. We aim to impart to the UG student along with academics, the ability to ethically innovate, educate and participate in various activities of the department.

HOD Profile



Name:-Dr. Arundhati Pande
Qualification:-MBBS, DOMS, DNB, FICO, FAICO, FACS, MRCS

Dr. Arundhati Pande is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist with 18 years of experience in the field. Her areas of expertise include Topical Phacoemulsification Squint correction, Pediatric Ophthalmology, and Oculoplasty. She has recently expanded her work into the management of Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Experience:

Dr. Pande has been a dedicated teaching faculty member since 2007, actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education, and has trained numerous colleagues in Phaco surgery at SMCW. Academically, she has contributed significantly with 10 national papers and one international publication, and has presented her research at various international, national, state, and local conferences.

Personal Achievements:

Her personal achievements are equally impressive—she served as the Organizing Secretary for the Postgraduate Conference held in March 2024, holds a government-approved patent, and is a six-time Half Ironman finisher. In addition, she is a passionate marathoner, trekker, and cyclist. Committed to community service. Dr. Pande has participated in multiple outreach activities, including eye camps and SCOPE initiatives, underscoring her dedication to both clinical excellence and social responsibility.
