Profile of the Professor and Head of Department of Pathology

Dr. Shruti Vimal, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology, brings over 15 years of experience as a dedicated educator for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She currently serves as the Phase II Director, playing a key role in shaping medical education and curriculum implementation.

She is extensively trained in Basic and Advanced Courses in Medical Education (BCME, ACME) and the Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP III) from KEM Mumbai, with a strong commitment to Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) approaches. Her core expertise lies in histopathology, cytology, haematology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, areas in which she has made significant academic and research contributions.

As a recognized guide for undergraduate and postgraduate research, she has mentored numerous students in research projects and dissertations. Her dedication to scientific advancement is evident in over 50 publications in reputed indexed journals.

Beyond academics, Dr. Shruti Vimal has actively contributed to institutional quality enhancement and governance. She is a member of ethics committees in other institutions and has received formal training in Quality Management Systems and Internal Audits for medical laboratories (ISO 15189:2012 standards). Her administrative roles include serving as NAAC Criteria Head, a key member of the admission committee, and faculty in charge of the student college magazine, reflecting her commitment to institutional development.

A strong advocate for continuous learning, she has completed specialized certification courses in Gastrointestinal Pathology, Transfusion Medicine, Lymph Node Pathology, and Research Methodologies, further refining her expertise in diagnostic pathology.

Dr. Vimal is also a proficient speaker and leader, having chaired scientific sessions at national and state conferences and served as a judge for undergraduate and postgraduate research presentations. With her vast academic, research, and leadership experience, she remains dedicated to enhancing pathology education, fostering research, and contributing to institutional excellence.

A large and the beautifully organized museum with over 320 well-dissected and mounted and 200 unmounted rare specimens with several copies of catalogues available. Short descriptions have been printed and displayed with suitable microphotographs arranged system wise in cubicles. Innovative display on glass shelves and desks with Transillumination and good lighting arrangement.

Very convenient working / mounting area and specimen store available. A special room for small group specimen discussion with an artificially designed display table, seating and teaching aids is an added attraction.
