The Department of Forensic Medicine including Toxicology is situated on the 4th floor of the Symbiosis Medical College for Women on the picturesque Lavale Hill-base Campus. The department contributes actively in the fields of education, research and medico-legal services. HOD Profile
Name: Dr. Sandesh Datir
Qualification: MBBS, MD (Forensic Medicine)
Dr. Sandesh Datir is an eminent teacher and researcher. He has fifteen years of rich teaching experience in the subject of Forensic Medicine including Toxicology. He has been keenly involved in research on Anthropology, Forensic Toxicology & Medical Jurisprudence. He has twenty-two research publications including six international publications to his credit. He has vast experience in conducting medico-legal autopsies and handling various medico-legal cases. He has assisted the law enforcement agencies in the investigations of medico-legal cases to facilitate the Judiciary in delivering justice to mankind. He is a life member of renowned academic societies of Forensic Medicine in India, like Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine & Medico-legal Association of Maharashtra. He has great contribution and guidance towards developing the department of Forensic Medicine including Toxicology at the Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Pune.
