Blood Centre Services

The Blood Centre offers a wide range of hospital services to ensure the safe and effective use of blood and blood components:

  1. Blood Collection and Component Preparation
    • Hemoglobin estimation and donor preparation.
    • Whole blood collection and component preparation including packed red blood cells, plasma, and platelets.

  2. Immunohematology Services
    • Blood typing (ABO and Rh D) and antibody identification.
    • Antiglobulin testing and resolution of blood group discrepancies.
    • Use of enzymes and reagents for advanced immunohematology testing.

  3. Compatibility Testing
    • Techniques to ensure donor blood compatibility, including immediate spin and anti-human globulin methods.

  4. Clinical Transfusion Practices
    • Comprehensive transfusion support for various patient groups including neonatal, obstetrics, cardiac surgery, and intensive care.
    • Management of hemolytic disease, thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, and massive transfusions.

  5. Apheresis and Therapeutic Services
    • Blood component separation and therapeutic apheresis.

  6. Adverse Reaction Management
