Department Overview
The department of Ophthalmology is a well-equipped department situated on the 5th floor of building no. 3 of Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Lavale. Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. We aim to impart to the UG student along with academics, the ability to ethically innovate, educate and participate in various activities of the department.

The Department of Ophthalmology of Symbiosis Medical College for Women is committed to be a ‘CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE’ by excelling in each of our core areas—patient care, research, and education.
Mission
- Mission is to provide such skills to the students that at the end of the course, students shall have knowledge of:
- Common problems affecting the eye
- Principles of management of major ophthalmic emergencies
- Major systemic diseases affecting the eye
- National programme for prevention of blindness and its implementation at various level
- Eye bank organisation
