The Department of Orthopaedics is situated on the 4th floor of the Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Lavale Hill-base Campus. The department contributes actively in the fields of education, research and service. The department is equipped to educate the Undergraduate & Post-graduate students.

Experience
Dr. Bharati after completing her DNB Ortho in 2011 pursued fellowship in spine Surgery. During her initial years of practice, she worked with renowned surgeons from various parts of India to improve her clinical and surgical skills in spine, paediatric orthopaedics and deformity correction. For her love to serve the society and teach she joined medical college. She worked in D Y PATIL medical college hospital and research centre Pimpri 2012-2016, in BKL Walawalkar rural medical college and hospital Chiplun from 2017-2022 and then joined Symbiosis in 2022.
Awards & Achievements
- Played an instrumental role in establishing spine department in Symbiosis hospital.
- Awarded “Gold Medal” in P K MULLAFIROZ Award (Indian Orthopaedic Association annual conference) section in 2024 Dec for innovation in orthopaedics.
- Awarded “first prize” in paper presentation at Pimpri Chinchwad Orthopaedic Association annual conference in 2023 and 2024.
- Faculty for Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Recognised as Faculty by Royal College of Surgeons of England for:
- Basic Surgical Skills Course (BSSC)
- Care of Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCRISP)

Services
Services provided by the General Medicine department of SMCW
- The department is running outpatient, inpatient, and operative services for patients with various musculoskeletal illnesses. The OPD runs daily on the Ground floor of the OPD block and caters to an average of 150 patients per day.
- Conservative management of various fractures and dislocations is being done by means of plaster application in the plaster and dressing room of the OPD.
- Apart from fracture fixation surgeries, Joint Replacement, arthroscopy surgeries, deformity correction, and tumour surgeries are performed in the department.
- The department is also assisted by the well-equipped Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department which is providing all kinds of pain-relieving therapies and muscle strengthening exercises. They also have experienced physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
