The Department of Orthopaedics is situated on the 4th floor of the Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Lavale Hill-base Campus. The department contributes actively in the fields of education, research and service. The department is equipped to educate the Undergraduate & Post-graduate students.

Dr. Abhijeet Shroff

Experience
Dr. Shroff after completing his Diploma Ortho in 2006 pursued MS Ortho at Sancheti Institute of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. During his education, he worked with renowned surgeons in various specialities of Orthopedics. After perusing Dip SICOT from Hong Kong and returning to India he joined Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital in 2008. With the vision of integrating clinical excellence with academic commitment he joined D. Y. Patil Medical College. His aim was not only to practice orthopaedics but also to actively contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education, surgical training, and research activities.
The institution provided a dynamic academic environment with diverse clinical exposure, enabling him to refine his surgical skills while mentoring young doctors. Over the years, this platform helped him grow as a clinician, teacher, and academic contributor in the field of orthopaedics. He joined Symbiosis Medical College in January 2023.

Services
Services provided by the General Medicine department of SMCW
- The department is running outpatient, inpatient, and operative services for patients with various musculoskeletal illnesses. The OPD runs daily on the Ground floor of the OPD block and caters to an average of 150 patients per day.
- Conservative management of various fractures and dislocations is being done by means of plaster application in the plaster and dressing room of the OPD.
- Apart from fracture fixation surgeries, Joint Replacement, arthroscopy surgeries, deformity correction, and tumour surgeries are performed in the department.
- The department is also assisted by the well-equipped Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation department which is providing all kinds of pain-relieving therapies and muscle strengthening exercises. They also have experienced physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
