HOD Profile
Dr. Shraddha Nikhil Yadav
M.B.B.S, MD Pharmacology
Dr. Shraddha Yadav is an accomplished Pharmacologist with over 14 years of teaching and research experience. Currently serving as the Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Pune. she has made significant contributions in both the academic and administrative realms of medical education. Her expertise spans across undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and clinical pharmacology, with a particular focus on pharmacovigilance and drug safety.
Achievements
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Yadav has been actively involved in research, with a robust portfolio of publications, including ten peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter. As a mentor, she has guided numerous students in their research endeavors, fostering a passion for scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice.
Dr. Yadav also excels in leadership, serving on various institutional committees as member of such as the Institutional Ethics Committee of couple of renowned hospitals of the city. She has served as a Certified internal auditor for ISO 9001:2015. Also Successfully completed the Advanced Course in Medical Education(ACME) (KEM, Mumbai), Basic course in biomedical research and Basic workshop in medical education as well as Curriculum Implementation Support Programme III. In addition, completed multiple certifications, including Ethic Review in Healthcare Research, Scientific Writing in Healthcare Research. She also serves as a resource faculty for several faculty development Programme.
Research Interest & Publications:
Dr. Yadav's scholarly contributions include 10 research publications, a textbook chapter, and numerous paper/poster presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Yadav has been actively involved in research, with a robust portfolio of publications, her research interests include wound healing, adverse drug reactions, Drug safety, Pharmacovigilance, pharmacological evaluation of various drugs on experimental models, and medical education.
Infrastructure Facilities
Department has well equipped experimental Pharmacology laboratory with facilities for computer assisted learning modules through computer and animal experiment software, well established Clinical Pharmacology laboratory equipped with mannequins, insulin pump, pupillometer etc. for teaching and learning various subjective skills, Research laboratory equipped with various advanced instruments for research purpose.
The Department also hosts Departmental library with numerous books and journals of the subject and domain.
Seminar Room with audio-visual aids where Seminars, Journal Clubs and Microteaching are carried out. These are presented as PowerPoint Presentations Group discussions.
Museum of the department displays prototype drugs, formulations, drug delivery systems along with drug catalogue. It has a section on history of medicine, adverse drug reaction etc. It also has charts and models depicting information on various drugs acting on different systems. It has charts of Pharmacologist and Nobel prize winning scientists.
The demonstration room of the department is well equipped with audio-visual aids for the purpose of demonstration of practicals and tutorials in the subject.
Department also has Adverse Drug Monitoring Centre (AMC). It involves monitoring, reporting and communication of Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs) associated with drugs, medical devices and vaccines with strict standard operating procedures to follow. The Causality Assessment Committee (CAC) evaluates the ADR report, makes recommendations and reports the ADR to the FDA and the drug manufacturer through web-based application called Vigiflow.

All the faculty members are regularly involved in research and have a total of 57 publications to their credit in various National and International journals.
Services
Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety Services
- Functions as an Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Monitoring Centre under the National Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI).
- Conducts regular sensitization workshops and training programs on drug safety monitoring for healthcare professionals.
- Collects, analyzes, and reports ADR data to promote a culture of patient safety and rational drug use.
Institutional and Community Services
- Provides expert input to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for formulary management and rational prescribing policies.
- Offers drug information and therapeutic advice to clinicians and healthcare staff.
- Organizes awareness programs for students, nurses, and community members on medication safety and antimicrobial stewardship.
